Clomicalm tablets for dogs contain the active ingredient clomipramine hydrochloride. It can be used as an adjunct in the treatment of separation-related abnormalities in dogs which manifest as: destruction, uncleanliness (faeces and urination) and only in combination with behavioural therapy.
The veterinary medicinal product should be administered orally at a dosage of 1 - 2 mg/kg twice daily, resulting in a total daily dosage of 2 - 4 mg/kg, see table below (based on body weight in kg):
Clomicalm 5 mg
1.25 - 2.5 kg = ½ tablet
>2.5 - 5 kg = 1 tablet
Clomicalm 20 mg
>5 - 10 kg = ½ tablet
>10 - 20 kg = 1 tablet
Clomicalm 80 mg
>20 - 40 kg = ½ tablet
>40 - 80 kg = 1 tablet
The veterinary medicinal product can be administered with or without food.
In clinical studies, a treatment period of 2-3 months with the veterinary medicinal product in combination with behavioural therapy was sufficient for the treatment of separation-related disorders. In individual cases, longer treatment may be necessary. In cases where no improvement is observed after two months, treatment with the veterinary medicinal product should be discontinued.
