How Frontpro works

Frontpro contains the active substance Afoxolaner. This product:

• Kills fleas in dogs within 8 hours, lasting 5 weeks
• Kills ticks in dogs within 48 hours, lasting 4 weeks

NB: Frontpro does not have a repellent effect like locally acting products such as Advantix or a flea/tick collar. This means that fleas and ticks must bite to ingest the active substance.

Frontpro is water-resistant and environmentally friendly

Because Frontpro is a tablet, the active substance is in your dog’s blood and not on the skin or coat. As a result, the product remains reliably effective even if your dog swims or is bathed frequently. Unlike spot-on products or collars, whose effect can be reduced by frequent contact with water.

In addition, Frontpro – unlike many other flea and tick products – is not harmful to aquatic organisms. After all, no active substance enters surface water through swimming or washing.

Which Frontpro chewable tablet is suitable for my dog?

Frontpro chewable tablets are dosed according to body weight. There are tablets for dogs of:

• 2–4 kg
• 4–10 kg
• 10–25 kg
• 25–50 kg

For dogs heavier than 50 kg, a combination of tablets can be used. Tablets must not be divided.
Frontpro may be given to puppies from 8 weeks of age weighing at least 2 kg. Frontpro can also be safely given to pregnant or lactating bitches.

Extra tips for fleas and ticks

Frontpro only kills adult fleas after they have sucked blood. Because they die quickly, before laying eggs, the infestation of the environment decreases — especially with consistent monthly use.

Making the environment flea-free

For effective control of a flea infestation, it is important to also thoroughly treat the environment:

• Vacuum regularly and thoroughly, especially resting places and cracks and crevices.
• Dispose of the vacuum cleaner bag immediately afterwards or spray it with a special environmental spray.
• Wash blankets, cushions, and baskets hot (60 °C or more).
• Sometimes it is necessary to spray the whole house with an environmental spray.

Preventing and removing ticks

Ticks like tall grass. Try to avoid this during walks. Even with monthly use of Frontpro, ticks may still get onto your dog. They will die within 48 hours and fall off, but it is wise to check your dog daily for ticks. Pay extra attention to warm, less visible places such as:

• around the ears
• under the chin
• armpits and groin
• between the toes
• around the vulva or penis

A tick tweezer or tick remover is indispensable for safely removing ticks.

Does Frontpro also protect against sand flies?

Frontpro kills fleas and ticks, but has no repellent effect against sand flies that can transmit Leishmania. If you live in or travel to a country where sand flies occur, protect your dog with Vectra 3D or a Scalibor collar.
